Langtang region is one of the least trekked, yet one of the most beautiful trekking areas. Located north of the Kathmandu Valley, the route goes through traditional and ethnic villages and untouched forests on the way to the peaks of Langtang-Lirung. This trek reveals the contrast between the Hindu culture of the Kathmandu Valley and the Buddhist culture to the immediate north of Kathmandu. The highlights of this tour include the visit to Langtang Valley, Kyanjin Gompa (monastery) and the Lirung Glacier. One can also climb the Tserko Ri 5050 Meters Peak and visit Gosainkunda Lake. Crossing 4680meter's Lauribina Pass is another part of adventure of this trip. The Langtang valley, the valley of glaciers, offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow-capped peaks, grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild premolar. In the upper part of the valley there are snow ridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in mist, tiny lakes of crystalline brightness and glaciated mountain giants. Detailed itinerary Day 01 β Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m / 4,265 ft) Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and some time to rest, you will attend a trip briefing and meet your trekking guide. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring authentic Nepali cuisine and a warm introduction to Nepalese culture and hospitality. Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel Meals: Welcome Dinner ________________________________________ Day 02 β Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing & Trek Preparation After breakfast, begin a full-day sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley at around 8:00 AM. Traveling by private vehicle with a professional guide, you will visit some of Kathmandu's most important cultural and religious landmarks, including Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). After sightseeing, return to the hotel and prepare your trekking equipment and belongings for the journey into the Langtang region. Accommodation: 3-Star Hotel Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 03 β Drive to Syabrubesi (1,420 m / 4,658 ft) After breakfast, drive north from Kathmandu toward Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley. The scenic journey takes approximately 8β9 hours, following winding mountain roads through picturesque landscapes, terraced hillsides, local villages, and the Trishuli Valley. Along the way, enjoy views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape. As you approach Syabrubesi, you may catch glimpses of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and the mountains toward the Tibetan border. Upon arrival, check into a local teahouse and relax in preparation for the trek. The trail gradually follows the Langtang Khola and passes through beautiful woodland filled with rhododendron, oak, bamboo, and pine. After several hours of walking, reach Bamboo, where you will stop for lunch. From Bamboo, the trail continues through dense forest with some steeper sections before reaching Lama Hotel. The peaceful forest surroundings and sounds of birds make this a particularly scenic section of the trek. After lunch, the trail gradually climbs through the increasingly open landscape of the upper Langtang Valley. You will pass traditional settlements and enjoy increasingly impressive mountain views before reaching Langtang Village. Spend the evening relaxing and exploring the village surroundings. Accommodation: Local Lodge/Teahouse Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 06 β Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m / 12,697 ft) Trekking Duration: Approximately 3β4 hours After breakfast, continue your trek toward Kyanjin Gompa, the cultural and scenic highlight of the Langtang Valley. The trail passes through yak pastures and traditional mountain settlements as the valley opens up to spectacular Himalayan scenery. Upon arrival at Kyanjin Gompa, explore the surrounding area, including the historic monastery and the local yak cheese factory. Enjoy magnificent views of Langtang Lirung, Ganchempo, and other surrounding peaks. Begin an early-morning hike toward Tserko Ri, one of the best viewpoints in the Langtang region. The ascent is steep and demanding, but the panoramic views from the summit make the effort worthwhile. From the top, enjoy breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, Ganchempo, the Langtang Himal range, glaciers, and surrounding Himalayan peaks, with views extending toward the Tibetan plateau on clear days. After spending time at the viewpoint, descend carefully back to Kyanjin Gompa for an overnight stay. The trail is predominantly downhill, passing through beautiful rhododendron, bamboo, and pine forests. Enjoy a more relaxed walk while taking in the scenery from a different perspective. Continue along the Langtang Khola before reaching Lama Hotel, where you will spend the night. Accommodation: Local Lodge/Teahouse Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 09 β Trek to Thulo Syabru (1,900 m / 6,232 ft) Trekking Duration: Approximately 5β6 hours Today, descend through the forest toward Bamboo and continue along the Langtang River. From the lower valley, the trail gradually climbs through beautiful woodland toward Thulo Syabru. As you approach the village, enjoy views of terraced fields and surrounding hills. Thulo Syabru is a traditional Tamang settlement and offers an excellent opportunity to experience local mountain culture. Accommodation: Local Lodge/Teahouse Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 10 β Trek to Sing Gompa / Chandanbari (Approx. 3,330 m / 10,925 ft) Trekking Duration: Approximately 5 hours After breakfast, begin a steady climb through forests of rhododendron, oak, fir, pine, and bamboo. The trail passes through Foprang Danda before continuing toward Sing Gompa. This area is known for its rich biodiversity, including a variety of bird species and the elusive red panda, although sightings are rare. Upon arrival at Sing Gompa, visit the local monastery and the traditional yak cheese factory. You will have the opportunity to taste locally produced yak cheese before settling into your lodge for the evening. Accommodation: Local Lodge/Teahouse Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 11 β Trek to Gosaikunda (4,380 m / 14,370 ft) Trekking Duration: Approximately 4β5 hours Today, trek toward the sacred alpine lake of Gosaikunda, one of the major highlights of the journey. The trail gradually climbs through rhododendron, pine, and juniper vegetation toward Cholangpati and Lauribinayak. As you gain altitude, the landscape becomes increasingly alpine, with spectacular views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Annapurna ranges on clear days. Continue along the ridge toward the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. Spend the evening enjoying the peaceful mountain surroundings. Accommodation: Local Lodge/Teahouse Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 12 β Cross Lauribina Pass (4,610 m / 15,125 ft) & Trek to Ghopte (3,640 m / 11,940 ft) Trekking Duration: Approximately 6β7 hours Today is one of the most challenging and rewarding sections of the trek. Leave Gosaikunda and ascend along a rugged trail toward Lauribina Pass (4,610 m), the highest point of this trekking route. The trail passes several small alpine lakes and offers spectacular mountain views. From the pass, enjoy panoramic vistas of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and surrounding Himalayan peaks. After reaching the pass, make a steep descent through the rugged alpine landscape toward Ghopte, where you will spend the night. Accommodation: Local Lodge/Teahouse Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 13 β Trek to Kutumsang (2,540 m / 8,333 ft) Trekking Duration: Approximately 6β7 hours Continue through peaceful forests of pine, juniper, bamboo, and rhododendron. The trail climbs toward Thadepati, from where the route gradually descends toward Kutumsang. This section of the trek offers a combination of forest scenery, traditional villages, terraced farmland, and beautiful mountain landscapes. Arrive at Kutumsang and relax at the lodge after the day's walk. Accommodation: Local Lodge/Teahouse Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner ________________________________________ Day 14 β Trek to Chisapani (2,230 m / 7,316 ft) Trekking Duration: Approximately 6β7 hours Today's trail passes through several traditional Tamang settlements, including Gul Bhanjyang, Chipling, Thana Bhanjyang, and Pati Bhanjyang. Walk through terraced farmland and forested hills while enjoying views of the surrounding mountains and Kathmandu Valley. Continue toward Chisapani, a popular viewpoint and the gateway to Shivapuri National Park. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and, weather permitting, a beautiful sunset or sunrise over the Himalayan range. After breakfast, walk through the forested trails of Shivapuri National Park, gradually descending toward Sundarijal. From Sundarijal, take a private vehicle back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in and enjoy a well-deserved afternoon of rest and relaxation. Explore the city's remarkable medieval architecture and cultural heritage, including Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the 55-Window Palace, Nyatapola Temple, Bhairavnath Temple, and Dattatreya Temple. Bhaktapur is also famous for its traditional pottery, woodcarving, masks, and distinctive Newari culture. After sightseeing, return to Kathmandu and enjoy your final evening in Nepal.
