The Annapurna Circuit Trek β 18 Days is one of Nepalβs most diverse and rewarding Himalayan journeys, taking trekkers through dramatically changing landscapes, climates, and cultures. The route travels from the lush subtropical valleys of the Marsyangdi River to high alpine terrain, crosses the legendary Thorong La Pass (5,416m), and descends into the dry trans-Himalayan landscapes of Mustang. The trek begins at Bhulbule (840m) and follows the Marsyangdi River through green valleys, terraced farmland, waterfalls, forests, and traditional mountain villages. As the trail gains altitude, the scenery and culture gradually change. Villages such as Pisang and Manang showcase strong Tibetan Buddhist influences, with stone houses, prayer wheels, monasteries, and beautifully carved mani walls. A key part of the itinerary is the acclimatization day in Manang (3,540m). This allows trekkers to adjust to the increasing altitude while exploring the surrounding Himalayan landscape. Optional hikes around Manang provide excellent views of the Annapurna range and help prepare for the challenging days ahead. The ultimate challenge is the crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416m), one of the highest trekking passes in the world. The ascent begins early in the morning from Thorong Phedi or High Camp. After reaching the pass, the trail descends steeply toward Muktinath, an important pilgrimage destination sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. Beyond Muktinath, the landscape changes once again as the trail enters the Kali Gandaki Valley and the rain-shadow region of Mustang. The journey continues through Jomsom and Tatopani, where the natural hot springs provide a relaxing break before the trail climbs again toward the famous Ghorepani and Poon Hill. The final section offers a spectacular sunrise from Poon Hill, with panoramic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and other Himalayan peaks before descending toward the road and completing the circuit. Accommodation throughout the trek is mainly in local tea houses, providing a comfortable and authentic way to experience mountain life and interact with local communities. With its combination of diverse landscapes, high-altitude adventure, Tibetan-influenced culture, pilgrimage sites, natural hot springs, and spectacular Himalayan viewpoints, the Annapurna Circuit Trek is an excellent choice for trekkers looking for a complete Himalayan experience. Best suited for: Trekkers with good physical fitness who are prepared for 5β8 hours of walking per day, significant altitude gain and loss, and the challenging crossing of Thorong La Pass at 5,416m. Previous trekking experience is helpful but not essential with proper preparation and acclimatization.
