Trip Overview: The Annapurna Base Camp Trek a well-known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek or ABC Trek in short-cut forms is combines some of the most spectacular Mountains & green valleysβ scenery with a fascinating insight into the life of middle hill Nepalese people. The Annapurna Base Camp trekking or Annapurna Sanctuary trek is the most popular trekking destination in the Annapurna region. This trek route offers a very close view of the mountains that are over 6,000 m. This is a very ideal trekking or hiking destination for those who have a very short time frame & wishing you reach over 4,000 m. One could see the splendid closer view of the mountain as well as the glacier. The major inhabitants of the region are Gurung & Magar, the major ethnic group of Nepal who are very famous for their bravery since the Great World Wars (First & Second). Most of the people in this ethnic group are employed in British & Indian Gurkha regiments. Most of them are rich enough & run the lodge/guest house along the trekking routes. The region is very rich in its flora & fauna, which is managed by a non-profit & non- governmental NGO called Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), working closely joined-hands of local inhabitants who are the permanent residents in the region. The trails to Annapurna Base Camp are covered with dense forests of bamboo, rhododendrons, firs, Oaks & others in the territory of the ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project). A single trail into the Modi Khola valley lead you to Annapurna Base Camp from the populated village of Chhomrong (2,050 m), a gate way to Annapurna base camp, after reaching Deurali (3,200 m), the vegetation remain thinner & changed into shrubs & thorny plants but the towering peaks of the Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) (6,993 m) begin to appear in a close view/ eye. As you continue to Machhapuchhre Base Camp or MBC (3,750 m) from Deurali, the trail is steep and energetic & it will take you 3 hrs to reach MBC. Again, another gentle climb for about 2 hours or more from Machhapuchhre Base Camp brings you to the high glacial basin that is Annapurna Base Camp (South Face of Annapurna South Base Camp (4,130 m) . The Annapurna South (7219 m), Annapurna I (8,091 m), the biggest mountain in the valley, which is the 10th highest peak in the world! Gangapurna (7,454 m), Annapurna III (7,555 m), Machhapuchhre (6,993 m) & others Peaks over 6,000 m, and the Annapurna glacier are so spectacular to enjoy from Annapurna Base Camp. This is a fascinating trek with reasonably comfortable lodge facilities which is incomparable with any other trek in Nepal! Moreover, the Annapurna Base Camp/Sanctuary is free of plastic & bottles/glass rubbish /garbage /pollution, which was banned since 1998! The region is very clean despite the growing No. of trekkers & their supporting teams each year. It is one of the best trek destinations in the entire world`s renowned Annapurna region, where more than 100,000 trekkers make their trips every year.
